Do you like bananas?

  Happy new year and welcome back to our first graders! This month, we learned about fruits and what other countries do for the New year. We made fruit puppets, avoided scary hungry lions, and stacked cups to make a tower. What do you do for the New Year?

　１年生の授業では、外国のお正月についてＡＬＴの先生が教えてくれました。また、やさいとフルーツの単語を、楽しいゲームをしながら練習しました！

Ｍuseums

　Our fourth graders were our little helpers today as we had the first day of Kzania. They became our museum staff who were eager to share their knowledge about dinosaurs, paintings, and even ninjas! The students are set to have fun solving dinosaur maze activities, painting photobooths, and item guessing.

　今月のお昼休みの英語活動「Ｋザニア」のテーマは、「世界の博物館に行こう！」です。科学博物館、美術館、歴史博物館の３ブースにわかれて、楽しんでいます！

３rd Term

     Happy new year, everyone! 2025 has come and we are welcomed by our energetic school staff, parents, and students. This is the last semester of the year and we can't wait to see how much we have improved since the beginning. Let's continue doing our best!

　新年明けましておめでとうございます！２０２５年、最初の英語の授業が始まりました。最後の学期、１年間の成長が楽しみです。３学期も一緒に楽しく頑張っていきましょう！

Merry Xmas

　　Merry Christmas and happy new year, everyone! We enjoyed the story time with kids at Kzania. Thank you for all your hard work this year. We shared wonderful memories and learned useful English. Have a good winter break and stay warm. 

お昼休みに、クリスマスのカップボーリング大会や、 海外の絵本の読み聞かせが行われました。 特にクリスマスの仕掛け絵本や、以前子供たちが『 Yomokka！（よもっか！）』 で読んだ本の英語バージョンが大人気で、 楽しい時間となりました！

Poster Session

     Our planet has serious problems and we can do something about it. Our six graders did a poster session to show how we can help our environment. It was attended by our school staff who were impressed not only by the students' English skills, but their research abilities, too. Let's help save the planet!

　６年生の英語の授業で「Let’s save the animal」をテーマにしたポスターセッションが行われました。各チームが自作のポスターを使い、「生き物たちの危機」や「私たちにできること」について英語で堂々と発表しました。質問にも自信をもって答える姿がとても印象的でした！

What do you want?

     Our 4th grade class ended with a blast! The students were able to open their parfait shop and welcome their wonderful guests. It was an amazing experience for both the students and the teachers who attended their class. They can definitely start their own shops soon. Great job, fourth graders!

  ４年生が、パフェ屋さんをオープンしました！練習した「What do you want？あなたはなにがほしい？」を上手に使って、ご招待した先生達からの注文をとることができました。授業後、子供たちはＡＬＴの先生に、「またやりたい！」とリクエストしていました！

Christmas Party

     The Christmas carols from our jolly second graders filled the hallways as we had our special Christmas lesson. Aside from games, songs and new vocabulary, our students also learned how Filipinos celebrate Christmas. What do you have for Christmas eve?

     今月のメインイベント、クリスマスの授業が始まりました！元気な２年生が、クリスマスキャロルを上手に歌ってくれました。ペン先生は、フィリピンの子供たちがどのようにクリスマスを祝うのか、教えてくれました。校長先生も一緒にゲームに参加してくださり、とても楽しいクリスマスパーティーになりました！

Let's save the animals

     The sixth graders watched a moving video of Greta Tbunberg, a young environmental activist, as she talked about saving the planet. For this unit, the students will be dealing with environmental issues and solutions.

　６年生は、環境活動家、グレタ・トゥーンベリさんの、国連でのスピーチを聞きました！これから、絶滅危惧種の生き物たちや、環境問題について、英語で表現できるように練習していきます！

Animals and Insects

Did you know that some cicadas live for more than 15 years? Kzania's November theme is about animals and insects. While doing fun matching games and our interactive Cat and Dog, the kids are learning a lot of new vocabulary.

お昼休みの英語活動、Kzania（ケーザニア）の１１月のテーマは、「動物と昆虫」です。カードゲームや、海外版のハンカチ落とし Cat and Dogをしながら、たくさんの新しい語彙を、楽しく学んでいます！

 I'd like ~. 

　Ordering at a restaurant in English is a very useful skill to learn. This week, the fifth graders made their own tasty lunch sets which they would like to order. Japanese and Italian cuisines are always popular. Bon appetit!

　５年生は、レストランで使う英語を、勉強しています！今回は、セットメニューを、英語で注文しました！和食とイタリアンが人気でした！

Let's Run!　

　Just like the sun, the kids shone brightly as they gave their 100% energy even if it was still a practice run for the upcoming marathon next week. It is one of the amazing qualities of kids here in Kuroiwa. They always give their best in everything. Good luck on marathon day!

　持久走の練習に、英語の先生達も参加しました。ペン先生とメイ先生は、みんなが真剣に走る姿を見て、本当に素晴らしい！と感激していました。持久走大会に向けて、一緒に頑張りましょう！

ABC

　The third graders started learning how to read and write the alphabet. It is surely challenging at first, but they will soon get the hang of it. Some letters also have difficult pronunciation like j, g, and z. Let's all do our best!

　３年生は、アルファベットの大文字を練習しています。最初は少し難しいところもありましたが、すぐにコツをつかめました！J、G、Zなど、発音が難しい文字にも挑戦しています！

GTEC

　This week is a big one for our six graders. It's GTEC week. Their English listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills were put to test. Although they felt a little bit nervous, we are sure that they did well. Good job, everyone!

　６年生が、英語の４技能テスト「GTEC」を受けました。英語のリスニング、リーディング、ライティング、スピーキングのスキルが試されます。少し緊張していたようですが、よく頑張ったと思います。

Boo!!

　Trick or Treat! Happy Halloween! Our 6th graders in Kuroiwa just had their Halloween party this year. The teachers, dressed up as characters, played fun games with the children as they recalled numbers, halloween vocabulary, and prepositions. There's nothing scarier than missing a lesson this fun!

　トリック・オア・トリート！お菓子をくれないと、いたずらしちゃうぞ！ みんなで仮装をしてハロウィンパーティーを楽しんでいます！ハロウィンらしい、ハラハラドキドキするゲームもたくさんしています！！

How do you spell your name? The fourth graders reviewed big letters and learned about small letters in this unit. For their final task, they made their own name cards and decorated each letter with colors. Next lesson, they will learn how to introduce themselves and spell their names

英語で自分の名前のつづりを言えるかな？４年生は、アルファベットの大文字を復習し、今は小文字にチャレンジしています！名前カードを作り、単元のまとめではクールに自己紹介をする予定です！

Direction

I'M LOST AND HUNGRY! Where is the supermarket? The fifth graders can now give and ask for directions in English. This unit, they learned about places around town and prepositions. If you are ever lost, they can surely help you.

「道に迷ってお腹が空いた！スーパーマーケットはどこですか？」
５年生は、英語で道を尋ねたり、道案内をしたりできるように、勉強しています！また、「in、 on、under、by」などの前置詞についても、歌とハンドジェスチャーで楽しく練習しました。道に迷ったら、きっと助けてくれるでしょう！

Trick or Treat!

Boo! Happy halloween! This month's Kzania theme is very interactive. The students looked for letters hidden all over the place and spelt a magic word. Then, they watched a spooky movie. Do you have a favorite Halloween movie?

ばあ！ハッピーハロウィン！１０月のＫザニア活動は、もちろんハロウィンです！校内に隠されたアルファベットを見つけ出し、並び替えると、英単語になります。英単語を見付けられたら、ハロウィンの映画を見ることができます。みなさんは、お気に入りのハロウィン映画はありますか？

Halloween Party

It's October! We all know what this means...it's the spooky time of the year again! The second graders looked for ghosts, stopped vampire attacks, and made cute skeleton dolls to celebrate. It was an active, creative, and fun-filled lesson!

１０月になりましたね！今月、ファングリッシュでは、ちょっぴり怖くて楽しいイベントがあります！２年生は、少し早いハロウィンパーティーをしました！英語の先生たちとハロウィンのゲームを楽しみました！

Halloween Decoration

Happy Halloween! The girls from the first graders were the first to celebrate with us. They learned how to say, "I see a black cat." and they sang a song about keeping monsters at bay by saying, "Go away!" It was spooky and fun!

来月はハロウィンがありますね！こうもりに変身した１年生がハロウィンの準備を手伝ってくれました！ハロウィンの歌を習って、おばけたちの英単語もマスターしました！みんなが作ってくれた、アルファベットのガイコツ人形は、先生達でファングリッシュルームの入り口にかざりました！

How was your summer vacation?

Summer in Japan is almost always hot but this did not stop our sixth graders from enjoying it. For their presentations in this unit, they talked about what they did for summer vacation while learning past tense in English. It was an interesting unit for everyone.

６年生が夏休みの思い出をスライドにまとめて、英語で発表しました！この単元では、英語の過去形を学び、夏休みに何をしたかを英語で言えるよう練習しました。ALTの先生達と思い出をシェアでき、楽しそうでした！
