GTEC

     Even if they were a little bit nervous, the sixth graders of Kuroiwa bravely took upon the GTEC. Their facial expressions and emotions were a mix of everything but they managed to finish the test while doing their best. You got this everyone! Your hard work will surely pay off.

　６年生は、英語の４技能を測るテスト「GTEC」にチャレンジしました。これまでの６年間、ファングリッシュで積み重ねてきた力を発揮！毎年、このテストは子供たちの大きな励みになっています！

Story Time

　Autumn is the perfect season for reading! Today, the English teachers read a traditional Japanese folktale in English. Students recognized some of the words, and everyone enjoyed the story!

　英語の先生たちが、日本の昔話を英語で読んでくれました！知っている単語がところどころ出てきて、「あ、この言葉分かる！」とうれしくなる場面も。英語で聞く昔話は、いつもと少し違った雰囲気で、とても新鮮でした！

It's a SPOOKY October!

　　The time to scare kids has come again! Each grade level had a spooky and fun experience during the Halloween FUNglish lesson. Aside from learning Halloween-related vocabulary, they enjoyed running from the witch, grouping themselves according to how many ghosts they saw, and winning stickers through Halloween Bingo. The "Awoooo" good job clap was a hit too! How about you? Did you have a spooky, fun Halloween party?

Learning with Kocho-sensei

　Fifth graders enthusiastically shared with our principal what they were learning in their English lesson. The activities ranged from giving directions while navigating the FUNglish mock-up town to guessing prices of products that can be bought on Amazon, all while practicing their learned English vocabulary for each unit. The students enjoyed it and were thrilled to see that our principal was leading by example through learning English with them.

Kuroiwa sho Expo

    The sixth graders just had a presentation for unit 6. In this unit, they learned about where things are from. They studied about continents, countries, ingredients of a sandwich, and daily things, too. The three-person presentation proudly showcased their items and talked about them, where they are from, what the country is popular for, and how they would describe the country. So, where is your shirt from?

    ６年生は英語の授業で「黒岩小万博」を開催しました！グループごとにパビリオンを作り、身近なものの生産国を調べました。また、その国の特色や、その国で体験できることなどを、英語で楽しく発表しました！ 

Hospital

    This month's Kzania event took a creative turn as kids learned about what's inside their stomach. After pretending to have tummy aches, they got a check-up at a mock hospital. A pretend MRI scan revealed the contents of their stomachs, which to their surprise were fruits and vegetables.

    今月の休み時間の英語活動、Kザニアのテーマは、「病院」です！おもしろいMRI検査をして、病院で使う英語表現を学びました！

My Pencil case 

     Teachers from elementary and junior high schools in the city visited to observe a fourth-grade class. The children energetically showed off their original pencil cases they had made themselves.

   富中校区の小中合同研修会が行われました。黒岩小の楽しいFunglishを多くの先生が参観！４年生はタブレットでオリジナルのふでばこを作り、英語で堂々と発表できました！

2nd Semester

     Hello, everyone. The first semester has finished. Well done! We learned so many new words and had so many wonderful memories in the class. Have a good summer vacation. See you!

     １学期のファングリッシュが終了しました！ゲームやアクティビティーを通して、たくさんの新しい単語を覚えたり、楽しい思い出がいっぱいできましたね！夏休み後、また元気なみなさんに会えるのを楽しみにしています！

　Connecting Classrooms 

　The fifth graders were excited to connect with their peers from Nishi. They watched self-introduction videos where the Nishi students shared their names, their school, and some of their abilities (can do) and limitations (can't do). This unique exchange allowed the students to get to know each other better.

   ５年生は英語で「can / can't」を使った自己紹介ビデオレターを作って、西小学校の５年生に送りました！西小からも元気な動画が届いて、統合に向けて、お互いのことを知る楽しい交流ができました！

Restaurant

     Order up! For this month's Kzania, the students transformed into servers running their own bustling restaurant. From greeting customers, taking and serving orders, to handling payments, the students not only practiced their English but also gained practical life skills.

　さあ、英語で注文しよう！６月のお昼休みの英語活動「Kザニア」では、ファングリッシュルームが高級レストランに大変身！店員さんとお客さんになりきって、英語で注文やお会計にチャレンジ！本物のようなレストラン体験に、笑顔がいっぱいの時間になりました！

Feelings 

   Our first graders learned about feelings this month. In the lesson, they had to run away from a hungry tiger as they practiced saying, "I'm happy." They also made creative emotion masks and many students said they were hungry. Oh, no!

   元気いっぱいの１年生は、「自分の気持ちを英語で表現する」ことを学びました！楽しいゲームで単語を覚えたり、気持ちを表すお面を作ったりしてニコニコ笑顔！「I'm happy!」「I'm hungry.」など、元気に声に出して楽しみました！英語って楽しいね！

I like the pink shells.

   Do you know Ariel? This month, we had a Mermaid-themed lesson with our second graders. They learned about colors and what mermaids wear. Lastly, we decorated tails and seashell accessories to end this fun-filled day. Everyone was so pretty!

　２年生は、「気持ち」「色」「海の物」などの英単語を楽しく学びました！そしてなんと、最後にはみんな人魚姫に大変身！ゲームをしたり、かわいい人魚の尾びれや、海星のアクセサリーを作ったり、とびきり楽しい時間を過ごしました！

Fashion Show

   Put on your rain boots! The fourth graders learned about the weather and clothes today. They walked on the runway in fancy coats, skirts, and sunglasses as we had our fun fashion show. Great job everyone!

   「さあ、長靴を履こう！」４年生は世界の天気と気候にあった服装を英語で学び、最後は自分の好きな天気に合わせたコーディネートでファッションショー！ランウェイもポーズもプロ顔負けでした！

Hello!!

　A simple "hello" can start a good conversation. Third graders learned how to say "hello" in different countries and experienced their first class presentation. Some were a bit nervous to speak in front but thankfully the class was supportive enough to encourage others. They also enjoyed coloring different flags. Now most of them can already say,

"Guten Tag! I'm from Germany!"

　３年生は毎週の英語の授業をワクワクしながら楽しんでいます！最初の単元では、世界のあいさつを元気いっぱいに発表できました！

Funglish 2025

   Welcome back to school everyone! The new school year has started and the English team is glad to see everyone in high spirits and ready to learn again. Our new English teacher, Kobayashi Keitaro sensei, introduced himself to everyone this week. We are excited to make many memories with everyone. Let's have fun!

　新しい年度が始まり、元気いっぱいの授業がスタートしました！さっそく、新しく担当になった小林慶太郎先生による楽しい自己紹介クイズで盛り上がりました！

The Last Lesson

　It was the last English class for the 6th graders! At the end of the class, each student was given a heartfelt message from their English teacher!

　６年生、最後の英語の時間でした！授業の最後に、英語の先生が子供たち一人一人に、将来への思いを込めたメッセージカードを渡しました！

Sea Animals

　　Let's learn about sea animals! This is the last theme of Kzania for this school year. We went fishing, fed a shark, and took pictures with cute sea animals. Let's have fun again next month!

　３月のお昼休みの英語活動では、「海のいきもの」の英単語を学びながら、魚釣りや、サメのポイントゲームをして楽しんでいます！

Easter

　 It's our last lesson this school year and we had fun. We learned about Easter and it was great. Thank you for your hard work! We can't wait to see you after the break. 

   １年生は、イースターについてのレッスンをしました。たくさん英単語を覚えられましたね！

Reading Picture Books

    Have you ever heard of Little One-Inch or The Old Man with a Lump? Today, the students from fifth and sixth graders had storytelling in English! It was fun!

　英語の先生達が、日本の昔話「一寸法師」と「こぶとりじいさん」を、英語で楽しく読んでくれました！
